We’re delighted to share that London Nightline has been awarded the Helplines Standard, a nationally recognised quality accreditation that celebrates excellence and best practice in helpline delivery. This certification, granted in January 2026, reflects the strength of our systems, our commitment to high‑quality support, and the dedication of everyone involved in our service.
The Helplines Standard, developed by Helplines Partnership, defines and certifies best practice in helpline work. It provides an independent benchmark that ensures helplines operate safely, consistently, and in ways that meet the needs of their users. Achieving this accreditation demonstrates that London Nightline delivers a service that is reliable, transparent, and aligned with the expectations of students, volunteers, funders, and partner institutions.
Our certification report has highlighted a number of organisational strengths. These included our clear mission and values, strong governance framework, robust safeguarding and confidentiality procedures, and effective operational planning. The assessment also noted the dedication and professionalism of our volunteers and staff, as well as the quality of training, supervision, and ongoing support we provide. Taken together, these elements demonstrate our commitment to delivering a safe, empathetic, and high‑quality listening service for London’s student community. The certification lasts for three years and stands as meaningful recognition of the quality and integrity of our work.
A huge thank you to our staff, volunteers and trustees whose extra efforts compiling evidence and working with the assessment team made this accreditation possible.
